Is the drink package worth it?

Short answer: Depends

As a cruising specialist with DW Destinations:

Why book with Michelle at DW Destinations over booking yourself?

I know the ins and outs of industry. I can see great rooms that are not available on the cruise line website.  I can work to get you extra perks. PLUS if you have any issues with your reservation or need special services, I'm the one who will wait on hold for you and fix the problem!

Sticker shock

You were made aware of the drink package for your next cruise and decide to check it.  Maybe you put it in your cart and go to check out.

IT’S MORE THAN THE CRUISE, you may scream to yourself. At $50-$70 per person a day, it can truly add up fast. Most cruise lines also make everyone in the cabin over 21 years old get the package.

I see this topic almost daily on the chat boards about cruises. You will see the gamut of responses from HELL YES to nope.

I really do not think anyone can answer this question for you.  This is a choice you need to decide for yourself. Feel free to discuss it more with your travel agent.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself to help your decision:

  • Do you have the money to spend on a drink package?
  • Do you want to enjoy your cruise without worrying about prices?
  • Are you or your roommates big drinkers?
  • Do you prefer expensive drinks?
  • Are you a bottle water drinker?
  • Must you have specialize coffee daily?
  • Do you enjoy a glass of wine or two with dinner?
  • Will you have more sea days than port days?
