Must have essential oils for travel
As someone who loves traveling to new places, practicing self care in my daily routine, and using essential oils for both of those things, it’s almost impossible for me to choose the ESSENTIAL essential oils for travel! But I’ve given it my best shot and narrowed it down to my top 5.
First up, always and ever, must be LAVENDER. And not just because it smells so good, but because lavender is known as the “Swiss army knife of oils” for a good reason! When I walked twenty miles through Paris in one day, lavender healed my blisters. When I got sunburnt after hiking in Phoenix, lavender soothed the burn overnight. In any and every hotel room I’ve ever been in, lavender on my pillowcase makes me sleep better and feel more at home. Lavender is a must have for travel!!
This would be followed closely, though, by Young Living’s proprietary blend, THIEVES. Thieves is a must-have for travel because of how it keeps your immune system strong despite whatever germs you may encounter. I put it on the bottoms of my feet before bed, and put a drop with some honey in my tea every morning, to keep above the wellness line. I flew twice internationally and four times domestically in the past year, and never got so much as a sniffle, due to my consistent use of Thieves!

The next oil in the all-star lineup is another Young Living blend, DIGIZE. Now let me tell you…Digize does NOT smell good! But it works so well that it’s always important to bring on every trip. Digize settles the stomach during indigestion. Eat a strange snail in France? Digize. Cow tail in Jamaica? Digize. Too much cheesecake visiting the family over the holidays? Digize. It’s helped me through all those situations and more!
I think when we’re talking about travel, it’s also important to mention PANAWAY. I’ve been on too many vacation hikes, bike rides, or snorkeling adventures to think that vacations are painless. And even if you plan to just lay on the beach all week, you could wake up with an unexpected kink in your neck. Rub some Panaway right on for quick relief. Over time, I’ve found that pain is a very personal thing. Some people may prefer Deep Relief, M-grain, or the Cool Azul pain cream, but make sure you bring something from that category along!
While it’s very difficult for me to choose the final oil, I’m going to go with VALOR. Valor is an emotional support oil, infusing the user with a sense of confidence and calm. And who doesn’t need that when traveling through busy airports, sleeping in new places, or trying new adventures?? Valor also smells delightful, so I love wearing it as perfume. Much better than bringing a fragile perfume bottle along in your bags- I’ve never had an oil bottle break yet, and I pack them right in my carry on!
